"My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me."
John 10: 27
There are so many distractions in this world that will pull your child away from God. By the time children reach third or fourth grade, they have begun to focus in on various topics that interests them. We want to make sure that at this impressionable age, your child is grounded in the truths of the Bible.
We start to teach them to look into the details of the historical accounts of the Bible and dig into the truths that are there. For example, in reviewing God's announcement of judgement on Sodom and Gomorrah we would ask, 'Why did Abraham ask God if he would spare the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah for just 50, 45, 40, 30, 20, and even only 10 righteous people? Did he truly believe there were 50 righteous people there? He didn't live there, so why was he asking about it in the first place?' (see Genesis 18:23-33)
These types of questions begin to challenge the kids to study the Bible in a meaningful way. They are challenged to start thinking about why they do what they do. We further encourage them to have their own quiet time with God each day, which provides them they spiritual growth they so desparately need.
